After another season with a BCS mess, I guess we can all scratch our heads as to when this mess will be fixed. It's all a matter of money and presidents of universities getting what they have been getting in bowl revenue to line their pockets. A play-off will not happen until the NCAA works out some deal that allows the president's of the universities to keep their $'s from bowl games. However, the NCAA's unwillingness to allow this to happen has prevented the playoff system. I looked at the NCAA budget for this year; it is $560 million for this year alone. Conclusion: IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY BOYS!
I guess that since we can not have a playoff system, then we have to ask ourselves who, among the #2 teams, would win in a face-to-face competition. Florida vs Michigan!
Look at common opponents! On September 2, Michigan deveated Vanderbilt at home 27-7 while on November 4, Florida defeated Vanderbilt in Nashville 25-19. Edge Michigan!
Best loss: Michigan defeat by Ohio State after a back-and-forth game. Florida having a 2nd quarter meltdown against Auburn in Jordan-Hare allowing special teams to allow Auburn to score since their offense couldn't. Florida was near the end of the toughest 3 game strech of any team in the nation. Edge Michigan by 1/2 a point.
Strength of Schedule: Florida #1 and Michigan #3. Edge Florida!
Bonus Point: Florida for playing a 13th game defeating a tough Arkansas team! Extra Point for Florida!
Extra Bonus Point: SEC being "left-out" in 2004 (Auburn). Extra Point for Florida!
In my opinion both teams should play for the title. However, if I have to choose, I chose Florida as they have one loss in the toughest league and they the SEC would break from the NCAA if they "left-out" another SEC school.
It doesn't matter as Ohio State will beat either of these teams by at least 10 points!!!
What you think???
